Momo
and Me

An
unsavory character demonstrates how to eat the momo.
I went
to this place, where the guy is the best cook in Kagbeni,
to learn
how to make momos from a master. Upon teaching me, he
said no
Tibetan would eat vegetarian momos, and invited me back
in evening
to learn how to make real Tibetan momos out of yak meat.
Suffice to
say they have big chunks of white yak fat in them, and
must be eaten hot
before the fat solidifies. They're quite good, and he
wishes
for me to help him start a momo restaurant in the US.
But restaurants
aren't my specialty. And the supply of yaks in America
is somewhat limited.
The Momo master also took this photo, and as you can
see, his
cooking skills vastly exceed his photographic ability.
