Annapurna
Circuit 1
Trekking
the Annapurna Circuit in Nepal.
These
photos actually begin on the old Annapurna Circuit trail
which very few people use any more. It adds another
four or five
days to the trek, depending on how many times you get
lost and
how high the river is when you cross. I spent quite
a bit of time
asking for directions on this first part, since there
are
trails running all over the place and you don't know
which
one to take. But, you meet a lot of people that way.
One of the more interesting things about this trek is
the various
ecosystems and ethnic groups you pass through on the
way
as you pick up elevation. The people harvesting rice
and
threshing it with cows walking in a circle is a different
lifestyle than the high mountain people, who are in
the
latter photos.
