Trekking the Annapurna Circuit in Nepal.

These photos actually begin on the old Annapurna Circuit trail
which very few people use any more. It adds another four or five
days to the trek, depending on how many times you get lost and
how high the river is when you cross. I spent quite a bit of time
asking for directions on this first part, since there are
trails running all over the place and you don't know which
one to take. But, you meet a lot of people that way.

One of the more interesting things about this trek is the various
ecosystems and ethnic groups you pass through on the way
as you pick up elevation. The people harvesting rice and
threshing it with cows walking in a circle is a different
lifestyle than the high mountain people, who are in the
latter photos.
